We are searching for a talented attorney with civil litigation experience to contribute to our client's thriving lemon law department. Our client is a Plaintiff-side law firm in California that specializes in lemon law and other consumer protection actions.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Attorney with focused experience in Lemon Law to join our legal team. The successful candidate will represent clients in consumer protection matters involving defective vehicles, advise on Lemon Law claims, and pursue favorable outcomes through negotiation and litigation when necessary. This role emphasizes excellent client communication, sound legal analysis, and efficient case management to secure fair remedies for consumers.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel and represent clients in Lemon Law matters from intake through resolution, including settlements and, when necessary, litigation.
- Conduct thorough legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses related to Lemon Law and consumer protection claims.
- Assess case facts, evaluate vehicle defect allegations, and advise clients on legal options, potential outcomes, and costs.
- Negotiate with manufacturers, dealers, and insurers to obtain vehicle replacement, repurchase, or other remedies under Lemon Law statutes.
- Manage a caseload efficiently, maintain case files, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Appear in state and federal court as required; prepare witnesses and develop trial strategies for contested matters.
- Collaborate with colleagues on complex litigation, strategy development, and appeals when appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of Lemon Law statutes, consumer protection laws, and relevant case law; ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.
- Demonstrated experience practicing as an Attorney with a focus on Lemon Law or consumer protection matters.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills; proven ability to draft effective pleadings and settlement documents.
- Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to explain legal issues clearly and manage client expectations.
- Proven negotiation and courtroom advocacy skills; comfort representing clients in mediation, arbitration, and court proceedings.
- Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently.
- Nice to have: prior experience in Litigation and as an Associate in a law firm, familiarity with Environmental Law, and/or Estate Planning practice areas, which may benefit cross-practice referrals and client counseling.
