Position: Maintenance Mechanic
Pay Rate: $30.00 /hourly
Location: Modesto, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (Some Saturdays Required)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and service machinery and production equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime through preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and experience working with industrial machinery, motors, conveyor systems, pneumatic tools, and production equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Observe machinery and equipment in operation to diagnose mechanical issues and identify root causes of malfunctions
- Dismantle equipment and machinery to access and replace defective components
- Inspect parts for wear, damage, and dimensional changes
- Repair, replace, and adjust mechanical components and control systems as needed
- Install specialized mechanical and structural components in equipment
- Lubricate, clean, and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Test equipment following repairs to verify proper operation and functionality
- Set up and operate machine shop equipment including lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools
- Perform preventative maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment
- Assist with ordering replacement parts and initiating purchase requests when needed
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and components as required
- Maintain maintenance records and complete required documentation
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- One-year certificate from a college, trade school, or technical program preferred
- Three to six months of related maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience maintaining industrial, manufacturing, or production equipment preferred
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment safely and effectively
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and equipment repair
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance manuals, operating instructions, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to calculate percentages, measurements, proportions, and perform basic algebra and geometry calculations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and production facility environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and working around machinery
- Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, dust, and varying temperatures
- Occasional Saturday work may be required based on production and maintenance needs
