Audit Senior

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Audit Senior to lead and deliver high-quality audit and assurance engagements. The Audit Senior will plan, execute, and complete audit assignments, ensure compliance with professional standards, mentor and supervise staff, and maintain strong client relationships. This role focuses on providing timely, accurate financial reporting and practical recommendations to improve clients internal controls and financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop audit strategies tailored to each client and engagement.
  • Supervise, coach, and review the work of audit staff and junior team members; provide constructive feedback and training.
  • Prepare and review audit workpapers, financial statements, and footnotes to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and auditing standards.
  • Execute testing of internal controls, substantive procedures, and analytical reviews; document findings and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate with clients to obtain necessary information, communicate audit findings, and build strong professional relationships.
  • Manage engagement budgets, schedules, staffing assignments, and periodic status reporting to partners and managers.
  • Conduct Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audits and other assurance services when applicable; stay current on specialized audit requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve audit processes, leverage technology, and enhance overall engagement efficiency.
  • Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and relationship-building initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required; Masters degree or graduate coursework and CPA licensure preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on audit experience; demonstrated audit skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and AICPA standards and the ability to apply them across diverse engagements.
  • Proven experience supervising and mentoring staff, with strong review and documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a client-service mindset.
  • Proficiency with audit software and tools (for example, CaseWare, IDEA, engagement platforms) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Nice-to-have: CPA license, experience in construction industry audits, prior public accounting experience, engagements with private companies, nonprofit audit experience, broader assurance services background, and Employee Benefit Plan audit experience.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed and a valid drivers license where required.
