Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within a large manufacturing facility. The Janitorial Specialist cleans assigned areas using approved procedures and equipment, supports infection control plans, and ensures common areas, restrooms, and production floors remain sanitary and presentable across multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collect, handle, and dispose of trash and waste following approved procedures and infection control plans.
  • Dust and damp mop floors, ensuring all surfaces meet cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Perform basic cleaning of bathrooms, including fixtures, floors, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Clean manufacturing floors and production areas, maintaining a safe and debris-free environment.
  • Clean common areas such as hallways, break rooms, and shared spaces to keep them tidy and presentable.
  • Move equipment and furniture as needed to access areas for proper cleaning and return items to their correct placement afterward.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and facility protocols while working in a manufacturing plant.
  • Coordinate tasks and shift activities with supervisors and team members to ensure all assigned areas receive timely and thorough cleaning.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual conditions observed during cleaning duties.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of recent janitorial experience.
  • Experience with basic janitorial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal.
  • Ability to perform basic cleaning of bathrooms, manufacturing floors, and common areas.
  • Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Capability to move and reposition equipment and furniture safely for cleaning purposes.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to approved cleaning procedures and infection control plans.
  • Reliability in working assigned shifts, including day, swing, or graveyard schedules.
  • No formal education required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a large facility, industrial, or production setting is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with using standard janitorial tools and equipment, such as mops, buckets, and cleaning agents.
  • Attention to detail to ensure all assigned areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work across different shifts and days as scheduled.

Work Environment

The role is based on-site at a large manufacturing plant in Fremont, working within production areas, bathrooms, and common spaces. You will operate in an active industrial environment with machinery, equipment, and ongoing production activities, following facility safety and cleanliness standards. Multiple shifts are available, including a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., a swing shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and a graveyard shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Schedules typically run Friday through Tuesday. You will report to on-site leadership and collaborate with a broader site team. The work involves standing, walking, and moving equipment and furniture to complete cleaning tasks, and you will use standard janitorial supplies and equipment in accordance with facility procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
