Johnson Service Group is looking for a Biologist to work in South San Francisco, CA.
- Supported in vivo studies involving small laboratory animals, including handling, dosing, bleeding, tissue collection, and sample processing in compliance with research protocols.
- Performed compound administration through multiple dosing routes with emphasis on intravenous dosing in rodents, while monitoring clinical observations and animal welfare.
- Assisted with animal ordering, perioperative care, weekend husbandry oversight, room checks, and emergency facility support to maintain smooth laboratory operations.
- Collaborated with researchers to execute complex studies, obtain formulated diets, monitor equipment, and ensure accurate study progression across PK, oncology, cardio-metabolic, and biologics projects.
- Independently conducted tightly controlled experiments, analyzed study data, and presented findings to cross-functional teams to support discovery pipeline decisions.
- Trained staff on proper animal handling techniques, study procedures, and laboratory best practices while maintaining compliance with safety and ethical standards.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, matrixed research environment with minimal supervision.
Qualifications & Education:
• Associate degree with 3+ years , or Bachelor’s Degree with 2 or more years of relevant experience in biology and animal sciences, or Master’s Degree with 1 or more year of relevant invivo experience, in chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, biology, or other relevant scientific discipline
• Additional years of relevant industry experience(in-vivo experience) is preferred.
Required Experience and Skills:
• Experience working with small laboratory animals with hands-on experience in in-vivo dosing, bleeding, tissue collection and handling techniques.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: PK, oncology , cardio metabolic disease and biologics.
• The individual will perform experiments in the laboratory with minimal guidance and supervision in the execution of complex in vivo studies to support the pipeline.
• The successful candidate will also possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity to expand their technical expertise, as well as effective written and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate across functional areas.
• Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic team environment.
• Works independently and is able to simultaneously handle a diverse workload with strong organizational and time management skills.
• The ideal candidate should be team oriented, value workplace partnership and can work with minimal to no supervision.
