Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Embark on an impactful opportunity supporting students with visual impairments for the 2026-27 school year. We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired for in-person instruction, as well as a skilled brailler, to help create an equitable and accessible learning environment. Your expertise can transform students’ educational journeys and foster independence.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or relevant credential (for teaching role)
  • Proficiency in braille transcription and the operation of braille writers (for brailler role)
  • Prior experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff
  • Comfort with adaptive technology including braille notetakers, screen readers, and magnification tools

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instruction to students who are visually impaired, supporting their individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Adapt classroom materials and curriculum into accessible formats using braille and tactile graphics
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure materials and instruction are inclusive
  • Offer orientation and mobility guidance as appropriate
  • Monitor student progress and document outcomes
  • Serve as an advocate for accessible learning within the school community
