Job Title: Conveyor Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and improving conveyor systems and related equipment in a clean, well-maintained facility. You will perform mechanical, electrical, and welding work, support safe and efficient operations, and help ensure equipment reliability through preventive maintenance and timely repairs. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyor systems and related mechanical equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to plan and complete maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Install, wire, test, and replace safety sensors and other electrical components on conveyor systems.
  • Use multi-meters, volt meters, and amp meters to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues on 120V–240V circuits.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding, including concrete repair support and structural repairs as needed.
  • Carry out mechanical assembly and disassembly of conveyor components, platforms, pneumatic lifts, and hydraulic systems.
  • Use torch cutting equipment safely to cut, modify, or remove metal components.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including hoses, valves, and actuators.
  • Support maintenance of platforms, structures, and associated equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Perform painting and surface preparation tasks on equipment and structures as required.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
  • Keep workstations, equipment, and tool storage areas organized and clean, following 5S principles where applicable.
  • Read and follow work orders to prioritize tasks and document work performed.
  • Support plumbing-related maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and participate in maintaining a safe working environment, including proper use of PPE and tools.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician or conveyor mechanic working with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with conveyor maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders to complete maintenance tasks accurately.
  • Practical experience with electrical systems operating at 120V–240V.
  • Skill in using multi-meters, volt meters, and amp meters to diagnose electrical issues.
  • Experience with MIG welding for equipment repair and fabrication.
  • Experience with TIG welding for precision repairs and fabrication tasks.
  • Proficiency in torch cutting and safe handling of cutting equipment.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic systems maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and pneumatic lifts maintenance.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and disassembly of industrial equipment.
  • Ability to perform concrete repair related to equipment installation or maintenance.
  • Basic plumbing skills for maintenance-related tasks.
  • Ability to maintain organized workstations and tool storage areas.
  • Willingness and ability to pass an extensive background screening.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5S experience or familiarity with 5S workplace organization principles is a plus.
  • Experience with inventory control for parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Prior experience in a clean, well-maintained industrial or manufacturing facility.
  • Comfort working under a contract arrangement with the possibility of extension or internal opportunities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Work Environment

This is a 6-month contract position with a mid-shift schedule, typically around 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. The facility is described as clean and well maintained, providing a professional and orderly work setting. You will work with conveyor systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, MIG and TIG welding tools, torch cutting equipment, and electrical systems operating at 120V–240V. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to procedures, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and maintaining an organized workspace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Torrance, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
