The SNF Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides skilled rehabilitative care to patients in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) setting. This role supports occupational therapists in implementing treatment plans to enhance patients' ability to perform daily living activities, promoting independence and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing individual treatment plans under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
- Provide direct therapeutic interventions to patients to improve or maintain their functional abilities.
- Document patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment use.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, state, and federal regulations regarding therapy services.
- Support discharge planning by assessing patient readiness and providing recommendations.
