Title: DMG MORI Digital Engineering Intern

Reports to: DMG MORI Digital General Manager

Location: 3601 Faraday Avenue, Davis, CA 95618

Start Date: Summer 2025

Wage/Time: Hourly – Monday through Friday – Core Business Hours

DMG MORI’s Production Technology Internship supports the production of world-class machine tools. The Production Technology department provides engineering support to all production activities including purchasing, logistics, fabrication, painting, machining, assembly and quality control. You can expect to work with state-of-the-art equipment and mentorship with experienced engineers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with DMG MORI Digital projects and Engineers as assigned
  • Develop and maintain written documentation, up to and including reports on a weekly basis.
  • Frequent communication with internal technical staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Seeking a degree from an accredited university in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to reliably commute to Davis, CA facility.
  • High level of attention to detail, superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven flexibility with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as on a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong hands-on capability and experience
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Knowledge of CAD, CNC machine tools, robotics and motion control is a plus.

Preferred Experience:

  • Ability to design, model and draft parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software (Pro-E/Creo).
  • Able to measure precision parts to make fixture, offset and coordinate adjustments.
  • Able to create G-Code programs from blueprint with and without use of CAM software.
  • Familiar with FANUC NC controls and Robot programming.

Work Environment:

Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery at DMG MORI Manufacturing. General office environment experienced at DMG MORI office.

Physical Demands:

Frequent: Sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.

Periodic: Operating power equipment, travel, operating a vehicle.

Occasional: Lifting or moving up to 50lbs.
