Adult Enrichment Support Services (AESS) is seeking a motivated and compassionate Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor to support adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and related needs. In this role, you will provide individualized, community-based instruction focused on building life skills, increasing independence, and promoting meaningful community integration.

This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact by empowering individuals to achieve greater self-sufficiency while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one Independent Living Skills (ILS) training in the home and community settings
  • Implement individualized service plans (ISP) and support goals related to daily living, social skills, and independence
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, meal preparation, household tasks, and organization
  • Support skill development in areas such as budgeting, time management, communication, and community safety
  • Utilize positive behavior support strategies to encourage independence and appropriate decision-making
  • Document session notes, progress, and outcomes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Accompany and support individuals during community-based activities such as shopping, appointments, and recreational outings
  • Provide safe and reliable transportation to and from scheduled sessions and activities
  • Communicate effectively with families, service coordinators, and the AESS team to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications & Skills


Must have valid drivers license

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or autism preferred
  • Understanding of independent living skills training, behavior support, and person-centered practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism and accountability
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record
  • Ability to assist with hands-on support for daily living tasks
  • Experience in social services, caregiving, or home and community-based support is a plus

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Reliable vehicle and current auto insurance.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
