Job Description
A highly regarded plaintiff-side employment law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 1+ years of litigation experience to join its growing Class Action and PAGA practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about employee rights and wants to gain hands-on experience litigating complex wage-and-hour class actions and representative actions under California's Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing skills, experience handling employment-related matters, and a desire to work closely with experienced litigators on high-impact cases.
Responsibilities
- Assist in all phases of wage-and-hour class action and PAGA litigation
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Prepare and respond to written discovery
- Take and defend depositions with appropriate supervision
- Participate in mediation preparation and settlement negotiations
- Draft demand letters and legal memoranda
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel
- Assist with trial preparation and courtroom appearances
- Stay current on developments in California employment law, wage-and-hour regulations, and PAGA litigation
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the California State Bar
- 1+ years of litigation experience, preferably in employment law
- Experience drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery
- Strong legal research and writing abilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to advocating for employees and protecting workplace rights
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wage-and-hour litigation
- Familiarity with class action procedures and PAGA claims
- Deposition and court appearance experience
- Experience using litigation support and case management software
- Fluent in Spanish is BIG PLUS!
