The General Laborer works in an outdoor yard environment and performs a wide range of physical, hands-on tasks to support daily operations. This role involves working in all weather conditions, handling materials, keeping the yard clean and organized, and safely operating equipment such as a forklift once trained. It is an entry-level opportunity for someone who is reliable, adaptable, and comfortable with physical work in an outdoor setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of general labor tasks in an outdoor yard environment, including sweeping, cleaning, and general upkeep.
  • Work comfortably in hot, cold, wet, and changing weather conditions while maintaining productivity and safety.
  • Sweep and clean the yard, including picking up debris and maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
  • Assist in cleaning up oil spills and other minor yard-related incidents in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Move materials to appropriate areas of the yard, ensuring items are placed and stored correctly.
  • Assist in removing materials from areas where they do not belong, helping keep the yard organized and hazard-free.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs using team lifting techniques.
  • Support other workers in their areas by performing general duties related to construction, production, concrete work, and material handling as needed.
  • Operate a forklift after receiving proper training and authorization, following all safety procedures.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with customers in the yard, offering assistance and direction as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures at all times, using provided gear and equipment correctly.
  • Remain open-minded and flexible to perform any labor-related tasks assigned to support yard operations.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in an outdoor yard environment in all weather conditions, including hot, cold, and wet conditions.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs using team lifting methods.
  • Willingness and physical ability to perform various job functions such as sweeping, picking up debris, moving materials, and assisting workers in their areas.
  • Comfort working around construction, production, concrete, and material handling activities.
  • Ability to work safely at all times and follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Basic interpersonal skills to interact with customers in the yard in a respectful and helpful manner.
  • Reliability and adaptability to perform any labor-related tasks assigned in a fast-paced outdoor setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working outdoors in a yard, construction site, or similar environment is beneficial.
  • Experience with general labor, production, construction, or concrete work is a plus.
  • Ability to operate a forklift is preferred; training will be provided for those without prior experience.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and equipment operations, including forklift operation after training.
  • Strong attention to safety and awareness of surroundings in an active yard environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team to move materials and complete tasks efficiently.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rancho Cordova, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.85 - $26.85/hr.
