Job Description

Job DescriptionDo you keep complex automation running at peak output?

Are you comfortable driving an automated cell with an HMI, balancing flow across manual inbound, automatic inbound, and automatic outbound? Do you like digging into stoppages, restoring service, and squeezing more cases per hour from a robotic system? If so, this role is for you.

Why this role matters

Our Customer Operations team operates Symbotic’s robotic material handling system day in and day out. We collaborate on site with customers to champion quality, safety, and top‑tier performance.

What you’ll tackle

• Run pre‑production readiness checks on automated adapters.
• Operate and monitor the automated storage and retrieval system via adapters (manual/auto inbound, auto outbound) to achieve maximum throughput.
• Stage and prepare pallets for induction to the Symbotic system.
• Use the Human/Machine Interface (HMI) and manual intervention to assess faults and restore operations.
• Immediately communicate and escalate production‑impacting issues to operational leadership.
• Drive uptime through system preservation, robot recovery, suspect removal, and bot health activities.
• Execute periodic inspections: cleaning, lubrication, tolerance verification, and component validation.
• Report out‑of‑spec conditions, perform root‑cause and corrective actions, and sustain continuous component operation.
• Coordinate using radios and maintain proper radio etiquette.
• Service rover bots: replace wheels, clean, and maintain ESD brushes and sensors.
• Recover automated robotic vehicles within the Symbotic Matrix select system, including work in tight/restrictive spaces.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.

You are

• Educated via an associate degree or equivalent experience/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or similar (preferred).
• Experienced with mechanical automation systems for 1+ year, or have equivalent training/education.
• Skilled in inspection work: cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checks, current measurements, and verifying electrical systems.
• Able to prioritize to maximize cell uptime and throughput.
• Safety‑minded with a demonstrated track record.
• Comfortable working independently from procedures and manuals.
• Effective at multi‑tasking across concurrent functions.

Where you’ll work

• Expect steep stairs to access the structure and proximity to high railings.
• Temperature‑variable indoor conditions (weather‑protected), ranging from 105°ree; to 32°ree; Fahrenheit.
• Construction sites require PPE: hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, and fall protection (e.g., harness).
• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly; move items up to 80 lbs.
• Stand/walk 10–12 hours; frequent reaching with hands/arms.
• Routinely work up to 45 feet high and in spaces down to 24 inches; able to climb/balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Capable of feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive motions with both hands and feet.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and fall‑protection requirements.
