About Your Role
CMTS is seeking a highly experienced Constructability Review Specialist General to support LAUSD Facilities Services Division projects in Los Angeles, CA. This role supports the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative during the preconstruction phase by reviewing project scope, schedules, design documents, and construction documents to identify conflicts, inconsistencies, ambiguities, errors, and omissions before bid and construction.
Education Requirements
Architecture degree preferred
Minimum two (2) years of college-level coursework from a recognized college, university, or trade school may be accepted with five (5) additional years of qualifying experience
What Youll Need to Get the Job Done
15 years of full-time professional paid experience with an Architecture degree
10 years acting as a Construction Administrator
5 years acting as a Designer
Construction Administrator experience on public or educational facility construction projects
Experience supporting projects valued at $8M or more for a single project or $80M combined cumulative project value
OR
15 years of full-time paid professional experience as a Project Superintendent or Project Manager
Experience on public, educational facility, and/or large commercial construction projects
Full responsibility coordinating complex projects
Experience on a single project valued over $30M or combined cumulative project value of $400M
Additional Qualifications
Works quickly, efficiently, and confidently
Proficient in writing RFCs
Experience reviewing submittals and change orders
Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, Bluebeam, and related computer programs
What Will Make You Stand Out
LAUSD, K-12, or public education facility experience
Strong background in constructability reviews and preconstruction coordination
Experience identifying design conflicts before bid to reduce RFIs and change orders
Strong collaboration with Design Managers, OARs, architects, engineers, and project teams
Experience reviewing construction documents for large capital improvement programs
What Youll Do
Assist in defining and reviewing Project Requirement Document scope of work and schedule
Review interim housing requirements as part of project planning
Make value engineering recommendations early in design
Review design professional deliverables for inconsistencies, ambiguities, conflicts, errors, and omissions
Help reduce RFIs and change orders through detailed constructability review
Ensure documents are coordinated between design disciplines
Prepare comprehensive constructability reviews of pre-bid construction documents
Coordinate constructability review efforts with the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative
Perform other duties as assigned
