Labor & Employment Litigation & Counseling Associate
A well-established Northern California law firm is seeking both junior and senior associates for its Labor & Employment Litigation and Counseling Group. Based in San Jose, this position offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated employment matters while building a long-term career within a collaborative professional environment.
The attorney will manage employment litigation matters from inception through resolution and serve as a trusted advisor to employers on a broad range of workplace issues.
Responsibilities
- Manage employment litigation matters through all phases of the case
- Handle discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, ADR proceedings, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
- Draft pleadings, motions, complaints, and legal memoranda
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Manage all aspects of discovery
- Represent clients in court proceedings
- Defend employers in employment-related disputes
- Advise employers regarding wage and hour compliance
- Counsel employers regarding FMLA and ADA compliance
- Handle EEOC and administrative proceedings
- Manage pre-litigation employment disputes
- Provide ongoing employment counseling to business clients
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices
Qualifications
- 2+ years of employment litigation experience
- Wage and hour litigation experience
- Experience advising employers regarding employment law compliance
- Familiarity with FMLA, ADA, and EEOC matters
- Employment defense experience preferred
- Class action and representative action defense experience preferred
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar license in good standing

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $145,000 - $250,000

Work Expectations
- Fully in-office position
- 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM schedule
- 1,800 annual billable hour requirement
