Job Description
The Logistics Coordinator is a temporary role responsible for supporting day-to-day transportation and logistics operations and ensuring the timely and accurate movement of goods throughout the supply chain. You will act as a key liaison between internal teams, carriers, warehouses, and third-party logistics partners to coordinate shipments, maintain system accuracy, and resolve transportation issues. In this position, you will monitor shipment activity, manage transportation documentation, communicate status updates, and support continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency and customer service. Responsibilities
- Enter and edit orders accurately in the Transportation Management System (TMS) and related spreadsheets.
- Verify order accuracy in the TMS against the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and route guides to ensure data integrity.
- Track inbound and outbound shipments daily, monitoring status and identifying any delays or discrepancies.
- Schedule delivery and pickup appointments with carriers and warehouses to ensure on-time freight movement.
- Maintain accurate shipment data in ERP and TMS systems, ensuring all records are complete and up to date.
- Communicate shipment status updates clearly and promptly to internal teams and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with resolving scheduling and appointment challenges to facilitate carrier pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure transportation documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs) and Proofs of Delivery (PODs), is complete, accurate, and properly stored.
- Update logistics dashboards and spreadsheets to reflect current shipment status and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with corporate cross-functional partners, warehouse team members, carrier partners, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to support smooth operations.
- Engage in occasional communication with customers to address logistics-related inquiries as needed.
- Perform similar and incidental duties as required to support overall logistics and transportation operations.
- Critically analyze logistics issues, perform root cause analysis, and work with others to develop and implement action plans.
- Balance and manage multiple open orders and freight issues simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, or supply chain operations.
- Working knowledge of a Transportation Management System (TMS) for order entry, tracking, and verification, with basic to intermediate TMS fluency.
- Experience entering and managing orders in both TMS and ERP systems simultaneously.
- Experience monitoring inbound and outbound shipments daily and flagging discrepancies.
- Experience coordinating domestic freight, including scheduling pickups and deliveries with carriers and warehouses.
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook, as well as internet applications.
- Proficiency in logistics software such as SAP, Oracle, or other TMS platforms.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent professional oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities for working with carriers, internal teams, and partners.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to multi-task projects and required tasks in an organized fashion.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
- Strong critical thinking skills to work through logistics problems and perform root cause analysis.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently with moderate supervision, including during remote work if required.
- High level of organization with the ability to balance multiple freight issues at one time.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations is a plus.
- Consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry experience is a plus.
- Experience in food, beverage, or perishable goods logistics is preferred.
- Understanding of perishable goods supply chains and the urgency of time-sensitive product movement.
- Awareness of food safety and regulatory guidelines in warehouse and transport settings is a plus.
- Basic understanding of cold chain logistics and temperature-controlled freight movement, including how trucks are managed and what cold chain compliance entails, is a meaningful differentiator.
- Experience with cold chain or temperature-controlled freight is beneficial but not required.
- Proficiency in Excel for tracking, reporting, and updating dashboards related to shipments and performance.
- Ability to maintain accurate shipping documentation, including BOLs and PODs, with strong attention to detail.
- Comfort working across spreadsheets, documentation, and scheduling systems to track shipped and pending orders.
- Comfort communicating directly with dispatch and carrier partners to resolve scheduling and appointment challenges.
- Knowledge of or exposure to SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP and logistics platforms.
- Professional yet relaxed communication style with a good sense of humor to align with team culture.
- Interest in gaining exposure to a well-known wellness and beverage brand and developing within the CPG logistics space.
- Willingness to commit to a 2 to 3 month contract covering a parental leave, with availability for overlap and training.
Work Environment
This is a 2 to 3 month contract role covering a parental leave, with the person currently in the role departing in mid-August and 1 to 2 weeks of overlap and training expected. The position is based in Oceanside, CA and follows a hybrid schedule. The first 1 to 2 weeks are fully onsite for training, after which the role transitions to a hybrid arrangement with onsite work required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Core hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time, with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. You will work primarily in an office environment as part of a team of approximately five office-based logistics staff and four to five drivers, with the potential addition of another driver. The culture is professional but relaxed, with an emphasis on collaboration, a positive attitude, and a good sense of humor. The role requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, and telephone, and extended periods of sitting and working in front of a computer screen. You may occasionally lift equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. There may be rare occasions where you function in a warehousing environment where temperatures are around 35 degrees, particularly when supporting cold chain or temperature-controlled operations. Limited travel by car or airplane, approximately one to two times per year, may be required to visit corporate offsite events or warehousing partners. The position offers exposure to a recognized name in the CPG wellness and beverage space, meaningful day-to-day logistics experience alongside an experienced team, a hybrid work schedule after initial training, and the potential for consideration for future opportunities as the team plans for possible expansion in early 2027.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
