Job Title: Automotive Body Worker

Job Description

This role focuses on automotive body work and paint preparation, including sealing seams, sanding, polishing, and masking vehicles to ensure high-quality finishes. The position is ideal for an experienced autobody professional who takes pride in detailed, hands-on work and can support light body repairs in a stable, long-term environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform automotive body work on vehicles in preparation for painting and finishing.
  • Seal all seams and prepare vehicle units to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Sand, polish, and scuff designated areas on vehicles to ensure proper paint adhesion and smooth finishes.
  • Identify and correct paint defects through thorough surface preparation and refinishing techniques.
  • Mask and tape vehicles accurately for paint preparation, protecting all non-painted surfaces.
  • Carry out light bodywork, including minor repairs, surface corrections, and panel preparation.
  • Use appropriate tools, materials, and equipment to complete paint prep and bodywork tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Follow established processes, guidelines, and quality standards for automotive painting and body repair.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and storage of materials.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure workflow and schedules are met.

Essential Skills

  • 1–3 years of autobody experience in a professional automotive or body shop environment.
  • Proven experience performing automotive body work, including light body repairs and surface preparation.
  • Ability to seal all seams and prepare vehicle units thoroughly prior to painting.
  • Proficiency in sanding, polishing, and scuffing vehicle surfaces to correct imperfections and ensure paint readiness.
  • Strong skills in masking and taping vehicles for paint preparation with attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive painting processes and body shop procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities, particularly Spanish, are beneficial for communication in a diverse work environment.
  • Previous experience working in an automotive body shop setting.
  • Familiarity with common body shop tools, equipment, and materials used in paint prep and light bodywork.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a production-focused environment.
  • Reliable, consistent work habits and a strong sense of responsibility toward meeting deadlines and quality expectations.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South El Monte, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
