Full-Time Child Care Behavior Support Specialist / After School Program-Buena Park, CA

Pay: $23 - $25 per hour (based on education and experience)

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children, especially those with special needs? AlphaBEST Education is seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavior Support Specialist to lead and support our site-based programs. In this role, you will design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program to help students achieve success in our before and after-school programs.

The Behavior Support Specialist will work directly with students to implement strategies that foster positive behavior changes while also providing guidance to staff and families on supporting students with special needs.

Location(s) You Will Work At:

  • Mabel L. Pendleton Elementary & Carl E. Gilbert Elementary

Program Hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:50/2:00-6:00 PM
  • Wednesday from 12:00-6:00 PM

As an AlphaBEST Behavior Support Specialist, you'll be trained, mentored, and have the chance to do the following:

  • Act as a liaison between program staff, management, and regional leadership to support individual student accommodation plans.
  • Develop tools, assessments, and behavior plans to create a safe and effective environment for students with challenging behaviors.
  • Conduct workshops and training for site-based staff on classroom management, positive behavior supports, and related topics.
  • Work with students and staff to define, measure, and address behaviors using positive behavior support strategies.
  • Partner with the Accommodations Manager to support the development and implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), collaborating with parents on the development of these plans.
  • Partner with site directors and staff to ensure consistency between program interventions and school-based behavior support strategies.
  • Continuously engage in professional development to enhance behavior support skills and knowledge.
  • Consult with staff, parents, and leadership to ensure successful implementation of strategies and programs.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years' experience in an educational or behavioral support setting, with a focus on students with special needs
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred; certification in crisis intervention techniques (e.g., CPI, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) is a plus.
  • Bilingual: Spanish and English speaking is a plus
  • Must be compassionate, patient, and committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
