Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in Ventura County, CA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PACU experience and 1–3 years of ICU experience, with prior travel experience required.

  • Inpatient PACU setting, including Phase I and Phase II recovery
  • \n

  • Adult patient population
  • \n

  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • \n

  • Day shifts scheduled as 4x10-hour shifts, with hours rotating between 9:30 AM–8:00 PM and 12:30 PM–11:00 PM
  • \n

  • Weekend coverage required
  • \n

  • 24 hours of weekend on-call duty required per month
  • \n

  • One weekday on-call shift per week (Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM)
  • \n

  • Floating to a nearby affiliated hospital (approximately 15 minutes away) may be required; advance notice will be provided
  • \n

  • EMR: Cerner (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
  • \n

  • Wide surgical case variety including cardiac, neuro/spine, ortho, thoracic, vascular, plastics, bariatrics, transplant, and more
  • \n

Requirements\n

  • Active CA RN license required; EMSA authorization not accepted
  • \n

  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • \n

  • Preferred certifications: TNCC (required before start for Periop RNs)
  • \n

  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient PACU experience (Stages 1 & 2) required
  • \n

  • 1–3 years of ICU experience required (hard stop)
  • \n

  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • \n

  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • \n

  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
  • \n

  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • \n

  • One supervisory reference required (within the past 2 years)
  • \n

  • Candidates must provide all time-off requests at the time of initial consideration — post-submission RTO will not be approved
  • \n

Additional Information\n

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • \n

  • Local candidates are accepted
  • \n

  • A CA harassment training course (1 hour) is required prior to or during orientation
  • \n

  • Orientation includes non-billable modules (approximately 4 hours); may be completed before start or during orientation
  • \n

  • A 1-hour orientation is provided for any float assignment to the affiliated hospital
  • \n

  • Pass/fail testing and an Advanced EKG exam are required; candidates should be prepared before starting
  • \n

  • Previous charge experience is preferred but not required
  • \n

  • Key clinical skills include cardiovascular care, airway and ventilator management, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition, IV vasopressor administration, cardiac monitoring (arterial lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz), and malignant hyperthermia protocol
