Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment and facility systems. This position supervises maintenance technicians, prioritizes preventive and corrective maintenance activities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. The Maintenance Supervisor partners closely with Production, Sanitation, Quality Assurance, and Engineering to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians across assigned shifts.
- Plan, assign, and monitor preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Respond to equipment failures and coordinate timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Maintain compliance with GMPs, SQF/BRC, FDA, USDA, HACCP, and all food safety requirements.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Production to maximize equipment availability.
- Monitor maintenance work orders and ensure accurate documentation within the CMMS.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
- Assist in capital improvement projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.
- Investigate equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions.
- Develop and improve preventive maintenance schedules.
- Manage contractor activities and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
- Monitor maintenance labor, overtime, and departmental expenses.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Participate in audits and regulatory inspections as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises Maintenance Technicians and Leads.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
- Manage scheduling, attendance, overtime, and employee performance.
- Ensure employees receive required technical and safety training.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with high-speed packaging equipment preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement.
- Knowledge of SQF, GMP, HACCP, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and access confined spaces.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and reach overhead.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, noisy, and dusty manufacturing environments.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
- Food manufacturing facility with exposure to moving machinery, refrigeration, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Must comply with all food safety, sanitation, and PPE requirements.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, overtime, or be on-call to support production.
