Job Description
Manufacturing Production Coordinator – Laser Cell
Anaheim, CA
Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
$28.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience
About the Position
ABC Sheet Metal / Steeldyne Industries is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Production Coordinator to keep our 4 kW CO2 and 12 kW fiber laser cutting operations supplied, organized and ready for production.
This position combines material staging, production coordination, ERP/MRP use, forklift operation and manufacturing-floor support. Approximately 75% of the workday is spent on the production floor preparing upcoming jobs, moving material, resolving shortages and preventing delays before they affect laser uptime.
This is not an office-only production-control position and is not primarily a laser-machine-operator position. The right candidate is comfortable working with both manufacturing software and physical material movement.
What You Will Do
- Review production schedules, job priorities and ERP/MRP information.
- Prepare upcoming laser-cell jobs before production is scheduled to begin.
- Confirm that material, programs, travelers, prints and required documentation are available.
- Stage sheet metal and other materials to support continuous laser operation.
- Operate forklifts to move, organize and stage production material.
- Maintain material identification, traceability and department organization.
- Coordinate with Production Control, Engineering, Purchasing and Quality to resolve missing information or material.
- Support coordination of First Article Inspections with Quality Control.
- Identify potential shortages, scheduling conflicts and production bottlenecks.
- Keep the laser cell organized and prepared for upcoming work.
- Support laser uptime, production flow and on-time delivery.
- Communicate job-readiness issues to the appropriate departments before they delay production.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of experience supporting manufacturing, material flow, production readiness, fabrication, machining or a related industrial operation.
- Hands-on experience using an ERP, MRP or similar manufacturing software system to review job status, production schedules or material requirements.
- Forklift experience.
- Experience moving, staging or coordinating material for production.
- Ability to review production schedules, travelers, work orders and job requirements.
- Strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing production needs.
- Ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to spend approximately 75% of the workday on the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to work onsite in Anaheim Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States and eligibility to work in an ITAR-controlled manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sheet-metal fabrication, CNC machining, laser cutting, aerospace manufacturing or precision metal fabrication.
- Experience working with material traceability requirements.
- Familiarity with AS9100 manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting First Article Inspections.
- Experience coordinating with Production Control, Engineering, Purchasing and Quality departments.
- Previous experience supporting CO2 or fiber laser cutting operations.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this position is measured by:
- Material being staged before the laser cell needs it.
- Travelers, prints, programs and documentation being ready for production.
- Production shortages being identified and resolved early.
- Strong material traceability and department organization.
- Reduced downtime caused by missing material or information.
- Improved laser utilization and production flow.
The successful candidate understands that every minute a laser is waiting for material, documentation or job information reduces production capacity and affects delivery performance.
Why Join ABC Sheet Metal / Steeldyne Industries?
- Competitive pay of $28.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Consistent first-shift schedule.
- Opportunity to support aerospace, defense and space programs.
