Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Location: San Diego, CA 92121
Duration: 6+ Months
Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to perform a variety of operations to assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and sheet metal enclosures. The role involves working with assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to build drawers, chassis, enclosures, and racks.

This position requires the ability to work on moderately complex assignments where judgment and initiative are needed to resolve problems and recommend solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical and electronic assembly, including soldering, wire harnessing, and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and enclosures using assembly drawings and schematics
  • Perform hand soldering, wire harnessing, cable assembly, and wire-wrapping
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly prints accurately
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete assembly and testing tasks
  • Set up and operate test devices using manual or automated methods
  • Perform routine go/no-go testing of circuits, components, instruments, and assemblies
  • Document test results and maintain logs of performance and malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose issues, and perform repair work as needed
  • Follow established methods and determine sequence of operations during assembly
  • Maintain adherence to quality and safety standards including ESD practices
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Production experience with vocational or hands-on experience in mechanical and electronic assembly
  • Strong knowledge of component polarity and electronic component placement
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings
  • Experience with soldering, wire harnessing, cable assembly, and wire-wrapping
  • Familiarity with IPC-610 standards and circuit board assembly
  • Experience working with SMT machines
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and testing equipment
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens, ASM, or similar SMT machines
  • Experience with Ekra paste printing and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)
  • Background in automation or high-volume manufacturing environments

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with IPC-610 standards
  • Experience in circuit board assembly and SMT machine operations
  • Knowledge of electronic components, placement, and polarity is required
