- Must have at least 1-2 years of laboratory experience
- Experience working with cells (bacteria, basic microbes) is a must
- Anaerobic culture experience a plus
- Bachelor's in biology/bioengineering or related

FULL DESCRIPTION: A small biotech company based in San Diego working on developing biosensors to perform real-time monitoring of water. We are looking for a highly motivated laboratory technician to rapidly integrate with our team to assist with day to day experiments related to developing and testing our sensor technology. Strong laboratory experience in biology and/or bioengineering is essential, with anaerobic cell culture experience highly preferred.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Culture and prepare microbial stocks for sensor experiments
- Perform cell culture and maintenance of anaerobic bacterial strains
- Set up and run microfluidics-based sensor experiments
- Work with our team to learn to test new microfluidic devices and operate and interpret data from in-house imaging platforms
- Perform various laboratory tasks to assist with the company's daily operations, including routine preparation of laboratory reagents, solutions, and media as well as strain organization and maintenance
- Contribute to the organization and cleanliness of the laboratory
- Present results at internal scientific meetings
The selected candidate will also possess:
- B.S. in biology or bioengineering with several years of hands-on laboratory experience
- Experience in a wet lab environment and working knowledge of a range of molecular biology and cloning techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is innovative, team-oriented, organized, and highly motivated
Salary Range: $24 to $26/hour
