Job Title: PBX Operator
Location: 2801 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90806
Schedule: Friday–Tuesday, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM
Duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension
Days Off: Wednesday & Thursday
Job Overview
We are looking for a Hospital Switchboard Operator to handle incoming calls, hospital paging, and basic communication tasks for a busy healthcare facility in Long Beach, CA.
Responsibilities
- Answer and direct incoming hospital calls
- Provide department phone numbers and locations to callers
- Operate the hospital paging system
- Make overhead and pager announcements
- Follow emergency codes and alarm procedures
- Work with hospital security during emergencies
- Monitor incoming faxes and documents
- Register patients in the electronic medical record system
- Verify patients using two patient identifiers
- Accurately document emergency codes
- Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time
Requirements
- At least 6 months of hospital operator or call center experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer and office software skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working overnight shifts
Preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese
- Hospital admitting or patient registration experience
- EMR/EHR experience such as Epic
- High school diploma
- Medical terminology course or certificate
