Job DescriptionEmployment Associate Attorney (3+ Years)

Direct Counsel is seeking an Employment Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded Am Law 100 law firm in its San Diego, California office. This is an excellent opportunity for an employment attorney with both litigation and counseling experience to join a sophisticated practice advising employers across a broad range of workplace matters.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of employment law experience and be comfortable handling employment litigation, day-to-day counseling, workplace investigations, and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.

  • Represent employers in discrimination, leave, wage and hour, non-compete, and breach of contract matters.

  • Advise employers on day-to-day employment and HR-related issues and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

  • Draft and review employment-related policies and agreements, including employee handbooks, employment agreements, and separation agreements.

  • Conduct workplace and employee-related investigations.

  • Develop and deliver employment law and compliance training.

  • Work closely with clients to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.

  • Collaborate with attorneys and colleagues across the firm's national employment practice.

Qualifications

  • J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • 3+ years of employment law experience.

  • Experience handling employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.

  • Experience advising employers on employment-related compliance matters.

  • Experience drafting employment policies and agreements.

  • Experience conducting workplace investigations.

  • Experience delivering employment-related compliance training.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

  • Must be admitted or eligible for admission to the California Bar.

Work Environment

Collaboration is an important component of the firm's culture. Attorneys are expected to work from the office approximately 60% of the time, in accordance with the firm's current workplace guidelines.

Compensation

Salary Range: $235,000–$365,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility.
