Job Title: Project Coordinator Commercial Tile & Stone


Department: Operations / Project Management


Reports To: Project Manager


Position Summary


The Project Coordinator Commercial Tile & Stone supports Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, organizing, and executing commercial tile and stone projects from submittals through closeout. This role focuses on coordination, documentation, and communication with general contractors, vendors, and field crews to help ensure work is completed per Tile Council of North America and American National Standards Institute (TCNA/ANSI) standards, on schedule, and within budget. Tile and stone knowledge is highly desired and pay will depend on experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with project staff to create and maintain action plans for tile and stone materials, labor, time, and other resources required on commercial projects.
  • Assist with development, distribution, and tracking of project plans, installation schedules, and manpower plans for tile and stone scopes.
  • Review and help analyze tile, stone, setting materials, waterproofing, and installation methods in coordination with the Project Manager to ensure compliance with commercial project specifications, TCNA, and ANSI standards.
  • Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) and field documents for Project Manager and Superintendent review; track RFIs and communicate responses to the GC and field teams.
  • Request product data, color selections, and physical samples (tile, stone, grout, sealers, trims, movement joints, etc.) from vendors and submit to the GC/owner for review and approval.
  • Coordinate and track all submittals, shop drawings, mockups, and approvals related to tile and stone scopes.
  • Monitor progress of tile and stone activities against the construction schedule and provide regular status updates to the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Assist in comparing actual labor and material costs to estimates for each commercial project and help identify variances and trends.
  • Work with field operations and the Project Manager to adjust sequencing, access, and installation methods when conflicts arise with other trades or site conditions.
  • Help analyze crew productivity, staging, and material flow to improve efficiency and reduce waste on commercial jobs.
  • Prepare and distribute periodic progress, cost, and status reports as directed by project leadership.
  • Ensure project documentation and installations comply with applicable codes, contract documents, TCNA/ANSI guidelines, and company standards.
  • Collaborate with foremen/superintendents to identify and troubleshoot layout, substrate, and coordination issues; follow up to confirm resolution.
  • Prepare and submit contract change order requests for tile and stone work, including quantities, takeoffs, pricing support, and backup documentation, to the Project Manager and GC.
  • Prepare and submit monthly safety statistics and any projectspecific documentation required by the GC or owner.
  • Prepare tile and stone closeout submittals, maintenance instructions, attic stock documentation, and warranty packages in accordance with commercial contract requirements.
  • Assist with punchlist tracking, completion, and documentation for tile and stone scopes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Abilities


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with general contractors, owners, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documents.
  • Excellent timemanagement skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines across multiple active commercial projects.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills related to layout, sequencing, and field conditions.
  • Basic budgeting and costtracking skills related to labor, materials, and change orders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams); experience with construction or project management software, Procore, Bluebeam, is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of TCNA and ANSI guidelines as they apply to commercial tile and stone installations, or willingness to learn quickly.


Education and Experience


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in commercial tile, stone, or a related construction trade strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a project coordination, project engineering, or similar role in commercial construction is a plus.


Physical Requirements


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on occasion (e.g., sample boards, binders, plan sets).
  • Ability to visit commercial job sites as needed, including walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, and navigating active construction areas with required PPE.

  • Pay is competitive and depends on experience and qualifications.
