We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join our team, focusing on prototype assembly and testing of electronic devices. This role involves hands-on work with cutting-edge prototype hardware, offering the opportunity to influence product quality and reliability while contributing to process improvements and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Rework and repair returned units, assessing conditions and confirming failure modes.
- Conduct functional tests and perform failure analysis to determine root causes.
- Disassemble units strategically according to SOPs and visually inspect systems related to failure symptoms.
- Perform component/module exchanges to isolate failures and document all work thoroughly.
- Assemble prototypes delicately, adhering to defined SOPs.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical assembly testing using specialized equipment.
- Calibrate, test, and flash prototype electronic devices.
- Assist the Technical Services team with assembly work.
- Adapt to changing statements of work and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Communicate with design engineers for troubleshooting and feedback.
- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency.
- Use text, photos, and videos to convey assembly processes clearly.
- Operate flash and calibration stations following SOPs.
- Troubleshoot and test prototypes and VR hardware, as well as script testing.
- Document and author assembly and operating instructions (SOPs).
Skills:
- Hand soldering skills with 0201 components using microscopes and camera-based inspection equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting and modifying circuit boards and small electronic equipment.
- Proficient with Linux, Windows, and Mac OS.
- Familiarity with Python and Android Device Bridge (ADB).
- Experience with failure analysis, solution proposals, and repairs.
- Ability to document and author SOPs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in electronics assembly, test, repair, or prototyping.
- Experience with PCBA, FPC, and consumer electronics.
- Familiarity with electronic analysis tools for QC.
- Past prototype or assembly line experience in small electronics.
- Computer programming experience.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Familiarity with CAD and EE design tools.
Work Environment:
This role is based in a fast-paced, hands-on lab and workshop environment. It involves on-site support for hardware assembly and testing, with daily work varying based on changing statements of work. The position requires close collaboration with technicians, engineers, and technical services teams, with an emphasis on safety, precision, and documentation quality.

This is a Contract position based out of Sunnyvale, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
