Job Description
Our client is a small, boutique litigation firm in San Francisco seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to handle medical malpractice and premises liability matters. This is a hands-on role with exposure to all phases of litigation and the opportunity to take real ownership in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, with a focus on medical malpractice defense
- Draft, format, and revise pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
- Manage case files and maintain organized document systems
- Track deadlines, filings, depositions, and hearings
- Assist with discovery, including drafting responses and managing document production
- Review and summarize medical records; prepare chronologies
- Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, experts, and opposing counsel
- Coordinate depositions, mediations, and expert meetings
- Prepare trial materials (exhibits, binders, witness files)
- Handle state and federal e-filing
- Assist with time entry and basic billing support
Qualifications
- 5+ years of litigation legal assistant and/or paralegal experience
- Knowledge of Bates stamping via Kofax
- Medical malpractice, insurance defense, or personal injury experience preferred
- Strong experience with medical records and chronologies
- Knowledge of California court rules and e-filing procedures
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with document management systems a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with insurance carriers
- Trial preparation experience
- Familiarity with tools such as Outlook, Teams, Westlaw, NetDocuments, or similar
