Job DescriptionIntellectual Property Associate (2–4 Years) – Multiple Locations

Direct Counsel is representing an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate to join its nationally recognized IP practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge patent prosecution and IP litigation matters alongside experienced attorneys.

Locations: Boston, Denver, New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto, or Washington, DC

Key Responsibilities

Patent Prosecution:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO

  • Develop and manage strategic IP portfolios

  • Mentor and support junior associates

IP Litigation & Disputes:

  • Conduct pre-litigation diligence

  • Draft pleadings and perform legal research

  • Prepare expert witnesses

  • Experience with inter partes reviews (IPR) and post-grant proceedings preferred

  • Deposition experience is a plus

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (advanced degree or industry experience preferred)

  • 2–4 years of experience in both patent prosecution and IP litigation

  • Admission before the USPTO

  • Licensed and in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction (MA, NY, CA, or DC)

  • Strong written, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
