The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, automotive knowledge, and a thirst for knowledge, and will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. We will train the right person! The Automotive Upfit Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that our first responders operate safe, reliable, and effective vehicles. The Automotive Upfit Technicians are tasked with installing the following equipment: Emergency Vehicle Lighting and Control Systems, Sirens, Prisoner Transport Systems, Radios, Radar, In-Car-Camera Systems, License Plate Readers, Equipment Consoles and Cargo Cabinets, Weapon and Drone mounting systems, and front push bars.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $20-$24 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule

  • Full Time-Hourly
  • Typical Schedule is Monday-Friday 6:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. Some overtime required

Attributes of a Strong Candidate

  • Ability to work with hand and power tools such as screw drivers, wrenches, hand drills, etc.
  • Proven 12V experience – a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints/schematics - a plus
  • Aptitude in mechanical, electrical, and electronic components from various sources is a plus
  • Capability to bend, twist, reach, and lift to 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Capacity to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Thirst for Knowledge
  • Valid Driver’s License

Primary Responsibilities

  • Removal of factory interior and exterior equipment and parts
  • Installation of specialized emergency vehicle Lightbars, Emergency lighting, Push Bumpers, Sirens, Controllers, Speakers, Partitions, Window Bars, Prisoner seats, Gun racks, in-car video, Computers, License Plate Recognition, and much more
  • Attention to detail as it relates to job progress and tracking of hours
