The Garage Door Technician serves as the face of Precision Garage Door Service, combining consultative sales, customer service, and technical expertise to deliver exceptional experiences for homeowners. This role focuses on building trust with customers, identifying their needs, presenting repair and replacement options, and recommending solutions that provide the best value and long-term results.
Technicians are expected to communicate professionally, educate customers on available products and services, and confidently close sales while ensuring a positive customer experience. Through strong relationship-building skills, product knowledge, and a commitment to excellence, the Garage Door Technician helps drive customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and the overall success of the branch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience during every service appointment.
- Build rapport with customers and effectively communicate repair needs, recommendations, and available solutions.
- Present multiple repair and replacement options and confidently recommend products and services that best meet customer needs.
- Generate and close sales opportunities through consultative selling techniques.
- Provide accurate estimates for repair and replacement projects.
- Educate customers on garage door systems, products, warranties, and preventative maintenance options.
- Ensure all scheduled installation, repair, and service work for garage doors, garage door openers, and related components is completed to the customer's satisfaction, proactively resolving any concerns or issues.
- Review work orders and invoices for accuracy and completeness before departing the job site.
- Collect payment for services rendered at the time of job completion.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge regarding garage doors, openers, accessories, and related services.
- Promote Precision Door Service products, services, and customer-first values at every opportunity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service vehicle, ensuring inventory is properly managed and prepared for daily operations.
- Perform additional duties and support branch operations as assigned by the Branch Manager.

- Proven experience in sales, customer service, or consultative selling, preferably in a home services, construction, or garage door environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Professional demeanor with a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to assess customer needs, present tailored recommendations, and confidently close sales.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to explain technical information in a clear and customer-friendly manner.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, coworkers, and management.
- Previous garage door, home service, or related industry experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to drive for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the position.
Physical requirements
Depending on the functional area of the assignment, tasks involve the ability to medium to heavy work. As a technician, you must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. and carry up to 50ft. Physical efforts usually involve lifting

- Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.
*This is a commission-based role with an average earning potential of $80,000–$140,000 per year. Actual earnings are based on individual performance and a variable commission rate of 15%-17% on net sales. Paid training is provided during the first 12 weeks to ensure your success at a pay range of $20.00 to $23.00. Training pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills & experience, among other factors.
