Job DescriptionPosition overview
We are seeking a reliable, patient, and attentive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide help for an individual with Autism Spectrum disorder . Services will focus on increasing independence in daily living skills, personal care, home management, financial literacy and community engagement. The ideal candidate is adaptable, observant, and comfortable supporting these key and specific areas.
Primary Goals of Support

  • Personal care
  • Support safe and confident community navigation
  • Assist with budgeting
  • Home management

Key Responsibilities
Personal Hygiene & Daily Living Skills
Community Navigation Assistance

  • Provide guidance and support by understanding their strengths and challenges.
  • Encourage independence while offering assistance as needed
  • Help establish consistent daily routines


Related Challenges
The individual’s may present unique challenges that staff must be prepared to address, including:

Navigation & Safety

  • Additional guidance may be required to safely navigate environments
  • Staff may need to provide orientation support, help client learn transportation options


Communication & Accessibility

Tasks involving: To enhance independence and quality of life. This assessment aims to develop a personalized plan that addresses their specific needs

Adapted Training Needs

Tasks involving: To help manage basic self-care tasks but may need support with consistency in hygiene routines, laundry, meal prep, budgeting, and expand social opportunities.

Ideal Candidate Qualities

  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferred
  • Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills
  • Patient, dependable, and adaptable
  • Comfortable providing hands-on support while promoting independence
  • Able to work independently during scheduled early am hours


Work Environment

  • One-on-one support in home and community settings
  • Clients schedule
  • Structured, supportive, and safety-focused role


Job Requirements
Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, and Cerebral Palsy preferred.
  • Patient, dependable, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and observation skills
  • Ability to provide hands-on assistance as needed
  • Two forms of valid identification
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Live Scan fingerprint clearance
  • Current TB test clearance
