Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician ensures that building infrastructure, utilities, and environmental control systems operate reliably and safely while maintaining compliance with cleanroom standards, safety requirements, and internal procedures. This role supports critical facility operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting issues quickly, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, air handling units, HEPA filters, chilled water, compressed air, vacuum, and process gas systems.
- Support cleanroom environmental controls by monitoring and maintaining pressure differentials, temperature, humidity, and particle levels within specified limits.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
- Maintain and update maintenance records, logs, and documentation in accordance with ISO, GMP, and internal company policies.
- Follow all cleanroom contamination control procedures, including proper gowning, sanitization, and cleaning protocols to protect product and equipment.
- Respond promptly to facility alarms, excursions, and emergency situations, working to restore systems to operational standards as quickly and safely as possible.
- Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to support cleanroom operations, resolve issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with equipment installations, qualifications, and calibrations as needed to support facility and production requirements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs, including safe work practices and adherence to established procedures.
- Engage with vendors and service providers as needed to support maintenance activities and ensure timely completion of external work.
- Provide professional customer service to internal stakeholders by communicating clearly, setting expectations, and following through on maintenance requests.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of experience in a Facilities Technician or equivalent related role.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, filtration systems, and building utilities.
- Basic understanding of electrical and control systems.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and detailed maintenance procedures accurately.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, test instruments, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, HVAC, or cleanroom environment such as manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or semiconductor (preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with ISO cleanroom classifications and GMP regulations (preferred).
- Technical or trade school certification in a relevant field (preferred).
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and preventive maintenance programs is a plus.
- OSHA safety training such as Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and personal protective equipment (PPE) is preferred.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as manufacturing, pharma, biotech, or semiconductor is advantageous.
- Strong customer service orientation when working with internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Quality, Engineering, and Production.

Work Environment
The role is based in a single building that includes cleanroom environments and associated facility systems. Work is performed primarily on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional on-call responsibilities to support critical facility needs outside of standard hours. You will work around HVAC systems, air handling units, HEPA filtration, chilled water, compressed air, vacuum, and process gas systems, as well as Building Management Systems (BMS). The environment emphasizes strict adherence to ISO and GMP standards, OSHA safety practices, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs. Cleanroom work requires compliance with gowning requirements and contamination control procedures, including proper sanitization and cleaning protocols, to maintain a controlled and safe facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
