Job Summary

The Document Control Specialist serves as an engineering and facility document librarian, providing superior customer service to document users as well as being responsible for providing drawing and technical document configuration management for Parks and Resorts Facilities and Design & Engineering Divisions using the Electronic Data Management System [EDMS] and formalized document protocols and release procedures.

This position is responsible for the accurate cataloging, indexing, storage, retrieval, and integration of engineering and facility documentation and may be responsible for engineering parts configuration management, while providing support to Engineering organizations and Data Management groups for parts research, selection, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily tasks with expected quality control and accuracy control with minimal or no direction from management. This includes and is not limited to all job duties laid out in the expectations letter.
  • Perform the integration and archiving of architectural and engineering drawings with minimal oversight (within current online depositories or offsite storage facilities).
  • Transfer of metadata/drawing title block information from the architectural and engineering drawings into EDMS during configuration management activities.
  • Index CAD and other electronic files to the metadata information, providing on-line and real-time auditing during configuration management activities.
  • Responsible for accurate integration and archival of facility and engineering documentation into EDMS. This would include the release of Engineering Communication Forms, Engineering Change Order part update configuration, Bulletins, and Design Directives.
  • Maintain plotter maintenance and daily operations.
  • Have the capabilities and training to perform large format print orders and or scan jobs when requested.
  • Support special research projects for both domestic when instructed by management.
  • Support Project Teams and Project Engineers with clear directions in documentation release procedures and assist where necessary to eliminate duplicate efforts and minimize project costs.
  • Support Project Teams with Engineering aid work, including turnover drawing guidance, naming configuration and any system uploading assistance.
  • Perform release duties such as closing out ECO’s, releasing ECF’s and accurately configure pre-release Bill of Materials into EDMS.
  • Independently manage, at a project level, all work-related tasks to a project’s documentation release process including properly managing time and charge number entries.
  • Proactively work and coordinate with Project Team members and Project Engineers to successfully release the required deliverables at project turnover into EDMS.
  • Responsible for being the point of contact with all Parks & Resorts for drawing configuration needs, including but not limited to documentation research, and all other configuration management duties.
  • Can work across all Engineering disciplines to maintain a cross-trained skillset (with little supervision).
  • Develop and maintain the AutoCAD library of purchased components (with little supervision).

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 years minimum work experience supporting Engineering or Architectural fields.
  • Possess an understanding of the principles behind engineering and architectural drawing release procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Possess an understanding of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Understand the operation and use of scanners, plotters, optical disk and electronic printing machines.
  • Be proficient in usage of PCs and networks (shared directories on all fileservers); be cognizant in the use of electronic file types released to Document Control.
  • Possess an understanding of configuration management and related troubleshooting.
  • Be capable of providing training in utilized systems to a variety of clientele.
  • Possess strong customer service skills
  • Be able to perform technical research
  • Possess strong organizational skills

Additional Qualifications

  • PDM Systems (EDMS) or similar experience
  • Large format plotters operation

Required Education

  • AA/BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience equivalent to 3 years minimum

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Professional SolidWorks training
  • Professional AutoCAD training

Additional Notes

  • Requires a significant amount of time spent seated at a workstation
  • Some work required in attraction bay environments including stairs, ladders, confined spaces, and low-light conditions
