Registered Psychological Associate
Location: Agoura Hills, CA
Setting: Residential Treatment Facility
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $90,000 annually
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Registered Psychological Associate to join our clinical team at a residential treatment facility serving adolescent, co-ed clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This role is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about supporting teens in a structured therapeutic environment and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
The Registered Psychological Associate will provide direct clinical services, support treatment planning, maintain timely documentation, and assist in the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed care under appropriate supervision in accordance with California regulations and licensing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy services to adolescent clients in a residential treatment setting
- Conduct clinical assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and intake interviews as assigned
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team
- Document clinical services, progress notes, treatment updates, and discharge planning in a timely and accurate manner
- Support crisis intervention and risk assessment (including safety planning) as needed
- Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, case management, behavioral health staff, and leadership to ensure coordinated client care
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, case consultations, and clinical staffing
- Provide psychoeducation to clients and families on mental health, substance use, coping skills, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and recovery support
- Maintain ethical and professional standards in alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies
- Ensure clinical documentation supports medical necessity and continuity of care
- Participate in supervision as required for the Registered Psychological Associate role
- Support discharge planning and aftercare recommendations for ongoing clinical and recovery needs
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and facility policies
Qualifications
- Registered Psychological Associate in good standing in the State of California
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited institution (as applicable to registration requirements)
- Experience working with adolescents in behavioral health, mental health, and/or substance use treatment settings preferred
- Experience with dual diagnosis/co-occurring disorders strongly preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment approaches
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a residential setting
- Familiarity with crisis management, de-escalation, and safety planning
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and clinical documentation systems preferred
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Residential treatment experience
- Experience facilitating process groups, psychoeducational groups, and family sessions
- Understanding of adolescent development, family systems, and behavioral interventions
- Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and co-occurring mental health/substance use presentations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a clinical caseload efficiently
Work Environment
This position is based onsite at a residential treatment facility in Agoura Hills, CA and involves working closely with adolescents in a structured therapeutic setting. The role requires professionalism, emotional maturity, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to maintain clear boundaries while building therapeutic rapport.
