SCOPE
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the planning, development, and organization of the purchasing function. This individual contributor role manages all major purchasing activities to support business goals and objectives, including review and aggregation of purchases, periodic purchasing commitments, and cost reduction initiatives.
You will coordinate closely with operations, production, logistics, inventory, shipping and receiving, and program management to ensure supply is delivered on time to meet manufacturing requirements and program schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement & Sourcing
- Prioritize and manage high-volume purchasing activities independently in a fast-paced environment
- Manage the purchasing function to support growth targets and business plan objectives
- Coordinate purchasing activities with Program Managers to align procurement with schedules and deliverables
- Develop, implement, and manage systems for key vendor selection, material procurement, and cost reduction
- Maintain and approve purchasing of supplies, equipment, tools, and materials necessary for operations
- Negotiate purchase contracts and manage scheduling, expediting, and inventory levels
- Routinely evaluate price trends and establish price and performance objectives
- Work closely with engineering teams to review specifications, interpret technical drawings, and source materials or components that meet requirements
Supplier Management
- Establish and maintain key supplier relationships to ensure visibility of future growth and plans
- Manage supplier qualification, selection, and performance evaluation processes
- Monitor costs, schedules, and performance against contractual commitments
- Monitor component lead-time issues and support production and delivery commitments
Metrics & Reporting
- Monitor purchasing metrics including on-time delivery, quotations in process, inventory turns, MRB activity, receiving discrepancies, and RTV
- Participate in business planning and provide supply chain insights to leadership
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, political asylee, or refugee)
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of purchasing, buying, or sourcing experience in automotive or aerospace/defense manufacturing
- 10+ years of materials sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiation experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of FAR/DFARS government contracting requirements
- Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR export control regulations
- High proficiency with ERP systems (Infor SyteLine preferred)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
- Knowledge of automotive or aerospace supply base with relevant commodities
- Must be able to speak/read/write English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering documentation
- Working knowledge of government contracting and export control regulations as they relate to procurement
- Familiarity with defense industry quality and cybersecurity compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with supplier audits and on-site qualification visits
- Professional certification in supply chain management or a related discipline a plus
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The expected salary range for this position is $140,000-$160,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Flyer Defense also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, company paid holidays and paid time off.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a full-time, in-person position Monday through Friday based in Los Angeles, CA. Occasional travel to supplier facilities may be required for audits and qualification visits. This position requires access to information controlled under ITAR; candidates must qualify as a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62.
