We are seeking an Underground Foreman to join our team in the Fairfield, CA area. In this role you will oversee, coordinate and schedule the activities of construction technicians, inspect work progress, equipment and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.

The Role
- Lead and supervise crews performing underground electric utility construction, including trenching, conduit installation, cable placement, vault installation, handholes, and service cutovers
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with PG&E standards, OSHA regulations, company policies, and project requirements
- Conduct daily tailboard meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and pre-task safety briefings
- Coordinate daily work activities with Field Supervisors, Project Managers, PG&E representatives, inspectors, subcontractors, and customers
- Read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, work orders, and project specifications to direct field activities
- Assign daily tasks and responsibilities to crew members while monitoring productivity and quality of work
- Verify utility locates and existing underground facilities prior to excavation activities.
- Ensure proper installation of underground electric distribution facilities in accordance with PG&E standards and approved construction methods
- Operate and oversee the use of construction equipment, tools, and machinery in a safe and efficient manner
- Monitor jobsite conditions and enforce excavation safety requirements, traffic control procedures, and utility avoidance practices
- Track daily production, labor hours, equipment utilization, and material usage; submit accurate daily reports and documentation
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and crew resources to maintain project schedules
- Identify and resolve field issues, utility conflicts, and construction challenges while minimizing project delays
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure completed work meets company, client, and PG&E expectations
- Ensure restoration activities are completed according to local jurisdiction requirements and PG&E standards
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, permits, safety documentation, and project progress
- Assist with training, mentoring, and development of crew members in construction methods, safety procedures, and PG&E compliance requirements
- Respond to emergency work, outage restoration, and after-hours utility support as required
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment damage, and safety concerns promptly and participate in corrective action implementation
- Maintain professional communication with management, customers, municipalities, contractors, and PG&E personnel
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of underground electric utility construction experience required, preferably on PG&E projects
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading crews as a Foreman or Crew Lead required
- Previous PG&E-approved Foreman experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of PG&E Underground Electric Distribution standards and specifications
- Experience with Rule 16 and Rule 20 underground conversion projects
- Knowledge of joint trench construction and coordination with telecommunications providers
- Experience with trenching, conduit systems, cable installation, vault placement, and underground utility construction
- Ability to read and interpret utility plans, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, excavation safety requirements, and utility locating procedures
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage crews, schedules, and field production in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with daily reporting and project documentation
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Competent Person Excavation Certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
- Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)
