1st and 2nd Shifts - $25 - $27 + 10% Shift Differential

Job Description

This role focuses on building and validating precision opto-mechanical assemblies in strict accordance with established procedures and quality standards. You will work with standardized tools and equipment, support production and special engineering builds, and ensure that all assemblies meet defined specifications. The position requires careful attention to detail, accurate data entry, and consistent adherence to documented processes throughout the production cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Build and validate precision opto-mechanical assemblies in strict accordance with written procedures and standards.
  • Use standardized tools and electric equipment, including torque wrenches, electric and pneumatic screwdrivers, and ball drivers, to perform mechanical assembly work.
  • Enter production and quality data accurately into company databases and maintain clear, organized records.
  • Execute simple, standardized process inspections and tests at various stages of the production process to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Interface with engineers to support special builds and experimental assemblies by following detailed instructions.
  • Collaborate with peers and supervisors to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues based on their level and complexity.
  • Operate precision cleaning machinery to prepare components and assemblies according to cleanliness requirements.
  • Prepare completed assemblies for shipment, including final checks, packaging, and documentation as required.
  • Follow established control measures and processes to ensure the consistent quality of modules produced.
  • Identify and document discrepant material, including recording nonconformances and communicating issues through appropriate channels.
  • Recommend procedural improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within the assembly process.
  • Follow written assembly procedures and Bills of Material to ensure accurate component selection and assembly sequence.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and continuous improvement activities.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and follow written assembly procedures and Bills of Material accurately.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to guide assembly and inspection activities.
  • Proficiency using standardized electric and pneumatic tools such as torque wrenches, electric and pneumatic screwdrivers, and ball drivers.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to enter and retrieve data from company databases.
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic email systems for documentation and communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document work, report issues, and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to translate and statistically analyze data and effectively report problems using written and graphical formats.
  • Ability to detect visible defects in materials under normal lighting with 20/20 vision or vision corrected to 20/20.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under time constraints.
  • Ability to read and interpret data, information, and documents accurately.
  • Ability to observe and respond appropriately to people and situations and interact effectively with others in the course of work.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information, processes, and skills as procedures and technologies evolve.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with electro-optical and/or opto-mechanical systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with environmental testing is preferred.
  • Strong customer service mindset with an advanced understanding of building and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Comfort working with standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and cleanroom or controlled environments.
  • Ability to recommend process or procedural improvements based on observations in the production environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally based on business needs.

Work Environment

This position operates on a second shift, Monday through Friday, within a production environment that maintains moderate temperature and noise levels. You will routinely sit, walk, talk, hear, and use your hands for keyboarding, handling small components, and operating tools, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch during assembly activities. The role occasionally requires moving around the campus and lifting or moving up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, which are essential for inspecting small components and detecting defects. You may occasionally travel depending on business needs. The environment is structured around documented procedures and quality controls, with access to precision cleaning machinery, standardized electric and pneumatic tools, and computer systems for data entry and communication. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
