Location: Santa Monica, California
Duration: 13 Weeks (Potential for Extension)
Schedule: Day Shift, 5x8 Hours (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Compensation: $2,100 – $2,850 Weekly (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CVOR Surgical Technologist to support a high-volume cardiovascular surgical team. The Surgical Technologist will play a critical role in preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile fields, assisting surgeons during cardiovascular procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and surgical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize operating rooms for cardiovascular and related surgical procedures.
- Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies according to procedure requirements.
- Maintain sterile technique and monitor the surgical field throughout procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and surgical staff by providing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently.
- Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and intraoperative support activities.
- Perform surgical counts in collaboration with nursing staff to ensure patient safety.
- Handle surgical specimens according to established policies and procedures.
- Support room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to all infection prevention, patient safety, regulatory, and departmental standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to quality patient care.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Certifications
- Surgical Technologist Certificate required.
- Current BLS Certification required.
Experience
- Previous Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience preferred.
- Experience working in an acute care hospital or surgical environment preferred.
- Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, aseptic technique, and operating room procedures.
- Ability to maintain focus and efficiency in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to adapt to changing surgical schedules and patient care needs.
