Job DescriptionPrivate Client Services Associate (Mid-Level to Senior) An established firm based in Los Angeles, California with over 65 years in practice is seeking a Private Client Services Associate with 5-9 years of experience to join their team in a full-time onsite capacity. This role will focus on estate planning, advanced gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, California property tax planning, residency planning, foreign trust matters, post-death trust and probate administration, fiduciary income tax planning, trust and estate disputes, fiduciary and beneficiary litigation, charitable planning, grant making, and nonprofit administration for high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals and families. Offer:Salary range: $265,000-$320,000+, contingent on experienceFull-time onsite role in a sophisticated Los Angeles-based private client services practiceOpportunity to work directly with high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients, families, fiduciaries, and trusted advisorsAccess to complex domestic and international tax, wealth transfer, estate planning, succession planning, and fiduciary mattersProfessional development support, technical training, publication opportunities, and participation in leading industry conferencesCollaborative platform with attorneys across corporate, income tax, employment, real estate, entertainment, and environmental practicesComprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, paid time off, and additional firm-sponsored benefits Qualifications:Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of California5-9 years of experience in private client services, estate planning, tax, trusts and estates, fiduciary administration, or a closely related practice areaStrong interest in sophisticated private client services work involving high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, and advisorsDemonstrated interest in technical tax practice through coursework, prior professional experience, or an LL.M. program is preferred but not requiredExperience with estate planning, wealth transfer planning, gift and estate tax issues, generation-skipping transfer tax planning, trust administration, probate administration, charitable planning, or fiduciary matters is strongly preferredAbility to manage frequent direct client and advisor interaction with professionalism, judgment, and discretionStrong academic credentials, excellent writing skills, and the ability to analyze complex tax, fiduciary, and estate planning issuesInterest in long-term professional development, technical excellence, thought leadership, and active participation in the private client services industry Responsibilities:Advise high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals and families on estate planning, wealth transfer planning, tax planning, succession planning, and fiduciary mattersDraft and review sophisticated estate planning documents, trust instruments, charitable planning structures, governance documents, and related client materialsCounsel clients on advanced gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning strategiesAssist with California property tax planning, residency planning, and planning for domestic and international client mobilityHandle matters involving foreign trusts with U.S. assets or U.S. beneficiariesSupport pre-liquidity and post-liquidity event planning for individuals, families, business owners, and closely held enterprisesAdvise fiduciaries and beneficiaries on post-death trust administration, probate administration, fiduciary income tax planning, and related compliance issuesWork on trust and estate disputes, fiduciary litigation, beneficiary litigation, and contentious administration matters as neededCollaborate with attorneys across corporate, income tax, employment, real estate, entertainment, and environmental practices on interdisciplinary client mattersMaintain direct communication with clients, family offices, fiduciaries, accountants, financial advisors, and other trusted advisorsContribute to professional development, industry visibility, publications, presentations, and participation in private client services conferences and organizations
