Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

For the 2026-27 school year, we are seeking both a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a skilled brailler to support students in-person in the Sunnyvale, CA area. These contract roles are instrumental in helping students access curriculum, gain independence, and achieve their academic goals.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment or a related field (for Teacher of the Visually Impaired)
  • Proficiency in braille notation, transcription, and use of braille equipment (for Brailler)
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in K-12 settings
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive tools for the visually impaired is highly valued

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized instruction strategies tailored to each student’s needs
  • Adapt and provide accessible educational materials, including braille resources
  • Assess student progress and modify teaching approaches as necessary
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate specialized instruction
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational plans
  • Provide training on braille and assistive devices to students and staff, as appropriate
