Staff Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite)
Job Type: Long-Term Contract with Opportunity for Full-Time Employment
New Gig Solutions is partnering with an innovative medical technology company that is seeking a talented Staff Accountant to join its growing finance team. This role will support multiple business entities and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing month-end close activities, processing payroll, and improving accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll entries, allocations, and recurring transactions.

Perform bank, credit card, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

Review vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment requests for accuracy and proper coding.

Process payroll, reconcile payroll accounts, and resolve payroll-related discrepancies.

Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and payroll liabilities.

Perform intercompany accounting, allocations, and reconciliations across multiple entities.

Investigate accounting discrepancies and prepare necessary corrections.

Prepare financial reports, schedules, and management reporting.

Assist with budgeting, cash reporting, and expense tracking.

Support annual audits, tax preparation, and compliance activities.

Maintain organized and audit-ready accounting records.

Help improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial processes.

Participate in accounting system improvements, automation initiatives, and special projects.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

3–6 years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, or similar role.

Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.

Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close.

Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Experience supporting multiple entities or intercompany accounting is highly preferred.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, and financial reporting.

Experience with QuickBooks Online is required.

Experience with Bill.com, Ramp, Rippling, or similar financial systems is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Experience in a startup, shared-services, or high-growth environment is preferred.

Medical device or life sciences industry experience is a plus.
-
CPA designation is welcomed but not required.
