Job Description
About the Role
A busy female executive in her late 30s, based in La Jolla, is seeking a certified personal trainer for twice-weekly in-home sessions. Training takes place in a well-equipped private home gym featuring free weights, TRX, a rebounder, kettlebells, and resistance bands. The ideal trainer is thoughtful, technically precise, and builds programs that emphasize strength, longevity, and quality of movement — not exhaustion.
Training Philosophy
This role is not a fit for HIIT, bootcamp-style, or "train to failure" approaches. Sessions should be low-impact, sustainable, and intelligently dosed leaving the client energized rather than depleted.
What You'll Do
- Lead 60-minute private training sessions 2-3x per week (Tue/Thu AM preferred)
- Design a structured, goal-oriented program emphasizing strength, mobility, and longevity
- Coach with clear technique cues, controlled tempo, and intelligent progression
- Stop sets short of failure; manage load and volume to support recovery and consistency
- Track progress and adapt as goals and life circumstances evolve
- Maintain a professional, discreet, and reliable presence in the home
Required Qualifications
- Current certification from a recognized body (NASM, NSCA, ACSM, ACE, or equivalent)
- 3+ years of one-on-one personal training experience
- Strong foundation in strength training, functional movement, and mobility
- Proficiency programming with free weights, TRX, kettlebells, rebounder, and bands
- Demonstrated comfort with low-impact, non-HIIT methodologies
- Excellent coaching demeanor (communicative, calm, encouraging, sharp on form)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
Preferred / Bonus
- Pre- and postnatal fitness certification or meaningful experience
- Functional nutrition background or credential (Precision Nutrition, NASM-CNC, RD, etc.)
- Experience training high-performing professionals or executives
Compensation
$75-110 per session rate, commensurate with experience and credentials. 1099 contract.
