Title: Application Support Specialist
Department: IT
Reports To: IT Manager

Overview: Provide day-to-day support for JIRA and Confluence users by resolving issues, managing access, and ensuring smooth operation of Atlassian tools to support business and project workflows.

Key Responsibilities

User Support & Ticket Handling

  • Serve as the first point of contact for JIRA and Confluence support requests
  • Troubleshoot user issues related to access, navigation, and functionality
  • Resolve tickets within defined SLAs or escalate when necessary

System Administration (Basic)

  • Manage user access, permissions, and group assignments
  • Create and maintain projects, spaces, dashboards, and basic workflows
  • Assist in configuration of templates and standard structures

User Guidance & Training

  • Provide guidance on best practices for using JIRA and Confluence
  • Support onboarding of new users
  • Create and maintain user guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles

System Maintenance

  • Ensure data consistency and proper usage of fields, labels, and structures
  • Perform routine audits (inactive users, outdated spaces, etc.)
  • Support system clean-up activities

Collaboration

  • Work with Atlassian Administrator or IT team on escalated issues
  • Communicate recurring issues or user pain points
  • Support small improvement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–3 years of experience supporting business applications or IT systems
  • Experience with JIRA and/or Confluence preferred

Skills

  • Basic understanding of JIRA projects, workflows, and issue types
  • Familiarity with Confluence spaces and page management
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills
  • Good communication and documentation abilities
  • Attention to detail and organization
