Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a difference in the lives of students by providing essential support to those with visual impairments for the 2026-27 school year. We are seeking both an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a skilled Brailler for contract roles near Santa Clara, CA. Whether your expertise lies in delivering direct instruction or in adapting instructional materials, your contribution will play a vital role in fostering student success and independence.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or credential for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or relevant background for Brailler position.
- Proven experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments in educational settings.
- Proficiency in Braille and using adaptive technology such as screen readers, embossers, and tactile graphics.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including general education teachers, special education staff, and families.
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- Commitment to promoting an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students' specific visual needs.
- Provide direct instruction to students in core academic subjects and life skills.
- Modify instructional materials and classroom resources to ensure access and inclusivity.
- Facilitate Braille literacy, including the preparation and adaptation of Braille materials.
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to support student achievement and accessibility goals.
- Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with educational standards.
