Job Description
The Brake Press Operator sets up and operates press brake machines to fabricate sheet metal components to precise specifications. You interpret technical drawings, select optimal forming methods, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines, including the person and Diacro press brakes, to form sheet metal components.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions accurately to determine job requirements.
- Determine optimal forming methods and sequences to maximize efficiency and maintain high quality.
- Fabricate parts to print while consistently maintaining required tolerances and dimensions.
- Perform routine in-process and final inspections of parts during and after the forming process.
- Measure dimensions using appropriate tools such as tape measures, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
- Grind, deburr, and prepare materials prior to forming when necessary to ensure clean and accurate parts.
- Straighten and adjust parts as needed to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
- Ensure all finished products meet internal and customer quality requirements.
- Maintain production efficiency while meeting deadlines and production schedules.
- Install hardware and components on parts when required.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards and company procedures.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members when needed.
Essential Skills
- 5–10 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand metal forming processes.
- Ability to determine the best forming methods and sequences for various parts.
- Experience with grinding, deburring, and finishing parts for external processes.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and other precision instruments accurately.
- Capability to install hardware and components on fabricated parts when required.
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues during the forming process.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support others as needed.
- Organizational skills to maintain a clean, efficient, and safe workspace.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the workplace; bilingual ability with English preferred for communication.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a sheet metal fabrication or general metal manufacturing environment.
- Experience in general machine operation and machine operating tasks.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes beyond forming, including preparation for external finishing.
- Comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and industrial machinery.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent quality standards.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication environment. You work around industrial machinery, press brakes, and other fabrication equipment while handling metal materials. The role involves standing for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks, and using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime schedule. The workspace emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards, with appropriate work attire and protective equipment required to safely handle materials and operate machinery.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
