Job Description
The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician supports the operations maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment, including material handling and pneumatic systems. This role focuses on ensuring high availability of conveyors and other material handling equipment through quality predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within a highly automated, robotics-driven distribution environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as conveyors and related automated systems.
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance routines on material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, motors, and related components.
- Complete all preventative maintenance documentation and procedures accurately and on time, including PM sheets and maintenance records.
- Perform battery changes and conduct preventative maintenance on industrial batteries as required.
- Enter downtime data into the daily log and ensure all incidents and repairs are properly recorded.
- Manage and process work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring accurate tracking of work performed.
- Troubleshoot and identify problems with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment, including automated conveyor systems and controls.
- Diagnose issues using blueprints, electrical schematics, and knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
- Repair and restore equipment to safe and efficient operating condition in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Track, store, and organize the department’s inventory, including spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Follow and demonstrate established safety standards while working on material handling equipment and automated systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
- Collaborate with team members and operations staff to ensure equipment performance meets operational expectations.
- Operate and support PLC-based control systems and robotic equipment as needed for maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Assist with basic building operations by troubleshooting input and output functions related to facility systems.
Essential Skills
- At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment.
- 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
- 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
- 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles in an industrial environment.
- 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards while performing maintenance tasks.
- 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing material handling equipment systems.
- 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience working with automated conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment.
- Background in running diagnostics, performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and creating work orders.
- Specific experience working with conveyors and other material handling equipment, including controls and robotics.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage and document maintenance activities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a desire to learn and grow within a reliability and maintenance engineering environment.
- Experience with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and safety guidelines.
- Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field.
- 2-4+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
- 2-4+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems.
- Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in a high-speed, automated facility.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, highly automated distribution facility that operates high-speed equipment with extensive robotic and conveyor systems. You will work around industrial material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and PLC-based controls while using a Computerized Maintenance Management System to manage work orders and documentation. The environment is performance-driven, with productivity and results tracked by data and metrics, but without day-to-day micromanagement. The position requires comfort with physical activity, including walking significant distances in the facility (approximately 10,000 steps per day) and safely lifting up to 49 pounds as part of routine tasks. Shifts follow a 10-hour schedule, and candidates must be open to working any shift as needed by operations. Attire is typical for an industrial maintenance setting, with appropriate safety gear and work-appropriate clothing required to perform hands-on tasks safely around machinery and equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
