Position Summary
The Armed Security Specialist is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets through proactive security measures, visible deterrence, and rapid response to incidents. This role requires a high level of professionalism, situational awareness, and adherence to all applicable laws and use-of-force standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide armed security coverage for assigned sites, including patrols (foot and/or vehicle) and access control
- Monitor premises through surveillance systems and physical inspections to identify risks or suspicious activity
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, including medical situations and security breaches
- Enforce site policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining a professional and customer-focused demeanor
- Conduct detailed incident reporting, daily activity logs, and evidence documentation
- Perform threat assessments and assist with risk mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency services when necessary
- Maintain control of assigned firearm and equipment in accordance with company policy and legal requirements
- Support investigations through observation, interviews, and report preparation
Required Qualifications
- Valid state-issued Guard Card and Armed Security Permit (as required by state law)
- Current firearms qualification/certification
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or higher preferred)
- Minimum 2–3 years of security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred
- Clean criminal background
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong situational awareness and decision-making under pressure
- Knowledge of use-of-force continuum and legal limitations
- Effective communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- Proficiency with security technology (access control, radios)
- Basic first aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods
- Ability to work in various environments (indoor/outdoor, varying weather conditions)
- Excellent to outstanding level of physically fit appearance with height proportion to weight
Work Schedule
- Flexible availability required, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs

- BSIS Guard Card
- BSIS Exposed Carry
- Able to pass a law enforcement level Livescan background check
- Valid Driver License
- Ability to obtain BSIS baton and OC permits
