Position Summary
The ABA Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the medical billing process, verifying insurance benefits, communicating with insurance companies, and ensuring timely reimbursement for services. Candidates must have prior experience in medical billing and demonstrate a strong understanding of insurance claims, revenue cycle management, authorizations, and payer requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently while ensuring accurate and timely billing and reimbursement.
IMPORTANT: Applicants must have prior medical billing experience to be considered for this position. Candidates without relevant medical billing experience will not be selected for an interview.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit weekly insurance claims for ABA services.
- Ensure all billing is accurate, complete, and submitted promptly.
- Verify client insurance eligibility and benefits before services begin.
- Contact insurance companies regarding claims, billing inquiries, denials, authorizations, and payment issues.
- Monitor outstanding claims and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure reimbursement.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and post payments accurately.
- Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and claim errors.
- Assist with obtaining and tracking prior authorizations.
- Support provider credentialing and payer enrollment processes as needed.
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Previous medical billing experience required.
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS), or an equivalent medical billing certification preferred.
- Knowledge of CPT codes, insurance claims, authorizations, EOBs, and denial management.
- Experience with CentralReach or similar billing software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
