SENIOR WATER/UTILITIES CIVIL ENGINEER - Sacramento, CA


What we're looking for?

Kier + Wright is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior water/utilities civil engineer to join our growing water department. This is an excellent chance to work on a broad range of potable water, recycled water, and wastewater engineering projects, with a focus on hydraulic modeling, pipeline design, pump station and lift station design, and permitting through construction.


What you will do

        Proposals

        • Lead marketing and business development efforts including writing potable water, recycled water, and wastewater sections of proposals, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts.

        Project Management

        • Oversee project management for potable water, recycled water, and wastewater capital improvement projects, including pipeline, pump station, and lift station design.
        • Manage client relationships and subconsultant contracts.
        • Analyze proposed designs for reliability, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.

        Staff Management

        • Mentor junior staff through technical issues and professional development

        Technical

        • Permitting new water, recycled water and wastewater systems and facilities.
        • Develop design standards and prepare technical reports.
        • Lead hydraulic modeling and engineering analyses for pressurized water distribution and recycled water systems, including pipeline sizing, pressure zone analysis, and pump station design using WaterCAD and Civil 3D.
        • Prepare technical studies, hydraulic model reports, and design reports for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

        What you have

        Education + Experience

        • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
        • 12+ years of experience
        • Extensive experience with hydraulic modeling software for pressurized water distribution systems
        • Proficiency in WaterCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Bluebeam.
        • Professional Engineering (PE) license (CA preferred)


        Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions

            • Prolonged periods of sitting (up to 8 hours a day for office staff)
            • Interacting with technology (computer, cellphone, etc.)
            • Ability to lift and/or carry items ( up to 20 lbs.)
            • Prolonged periods of standing/walking (field checks)
            • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (field checks)
            • Occasional travel e.g. driving to offices, jobsites, client meetings, etc.
